Gel Coat Help

I filled a bunch of bolt holes in my C-dory with West Marine epoxy and bought a West Marine gel coat repair kit to cover them. The instructions with the kit says to use it over polyester resin not epoxy. Did I screw up or will it work?

The difference between us is that you read the instructions. I did not and have been using it over epoxy with no problems at all. I don't think I've every used gel coat over a reapir that did not have epoxy in it. So maybe there's a problem, but I've never found it.

I thought I had heard other people doing it. Maybe it is just best used over polyester and they are covering their butts incase it doesn't work.

I have used it over epoxy as well with no problems. If you do have problems you can always drill out the epoxy and use resin.

SHould never have a problem with small holes....might be different if you sprayed gel coat over a large epoxy panel.....just keep on doing it...
