pretty straigtforward if you have some mechanical aptitude. get someone to help you put it back on and line things up. get a good shop manual too. order the kit from the internet for a lot less money, check the anodes around the motor while you are at it, buy all the odd lubricants, i.e. adhesive tacking gasket sealer, triple guard grease, some corrosion cleaner like boeing t-10., a can of pb blaster for corroded bolts and nuts, new lube for the lower end while you are at it, new stainless cotter pin for the prop.,

it helps to have a workbench to hold your lower end upright while working on it to replace the impellar kit.

Its a good thing to learn to do and will save you a bunch of money on your life of the motor.

all you need is two to three wrenches depending on make and model, pair of pliers, beer, more beer and some one to help line it up if it's to heavy to hold and line up yourself. only takes about an hour, if never doing it, give yourself about 2.5 hours.

Does this job require a 6-pack or is this more a 12-pack job?

it takes me an hour to do mine, one beer per ten minutes, which equates to a six pack for me. If it takes 2.5 hours, that equates to 15 beers, buy an 18 pack of long necks. if you drink the 18 pack and your are not drink- one of two things occurred, 1) you drink beer wearing pink panties 2)it took you way to long, to drunk to finish and try the 18 pack challenge again the next day.
