I am seeking info about the 1987 CC Mako Boat. Is it a seaworthy boat and is it a quality boat? It's powered with twin 1997 225hp Yamaha's.

Yep its very seaworthy, be sure to look it over well. As in any boat that age it depends on how it was stored, maintained and just plain loved. There are quite a few Mako owners here so you should get quite a bit of feed back. Post some photos, always love to see what you have found.

I saw a 26 mako for sale this summer perhaps a few years older with old engines. It was sold before I could take a second look. Someone must have wanted it badly.

I have an 87 Mako with Twin Yamha 150's and love it.The 80's were apparently the best years for Makos. You should have it surveyed regardless but I think you will be very happy.

A friend from this forum has a nice site you should check out:

Yep, great boat. Built like a tank and rides well in the slop for a 26 foot boat. Make sure to get it surveyed. Also, that boat was only rated for 400 hp. While I'm sure the transom can handle it, you might run into some insurrance issues due to the fact that it is technically over the max hp.

Top notch boat! Go for it. If she is sound, you won't regret it. Take pictures and send them to me, I'll put them on the web.

Great boat, but a "Word of caution..."

Mako's 261 max horsepower rating is 400 I believe. Twin 200's was/is a common power package. If it indeed has twin 225's, you may not be able to get insurance. Your choice.
