Default Thinking of remodeling cabin floor

I have marine carpet glued over marine plywood in the cabin of my boat that I'm thinking of pulling up and replacing, either with new carpet or maybe even something else like wood. Even though this boat is only 4 years old and it has snap-in carpet covers, the carpet has gotten wet repeatedly and is getting beat.

This is not a lot of area - just a small standing area in front of the galley, the area underneath and around the v-birth, steps to the cockpit and a tiny area leading to a mid-cabin birth.

The small area in front of the galley is like a well (maybe 6-7 sq ft) and gets the most traffic and moisture. I'd like to put something other than carpet there that I can clean easier. The rest I would be happy just replacing the carpet with new carpet.

Has anyone done anything like this? Is it a big job?
