I need some advice from some Cat owners out there. I am considering GB and World Cat. I started out favoring the GB but I'm about to be swayed to the World Cat. In addition to fishing I also enjoy diving and spearfishing. Time would probably be spent 65% fishing 35% diving. Would the WC 270 SD fit my need or do you think the WC 270 TE would fit. Also, any opinions out there on the WC 250 DC. Is going to the 270 with the 225,s worth an incresase of about 25K in price.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
I think the TE would suit your needs best but you have to ddecide on that. What type of fishing are you going to do? The 225 motors and going to the 270 is defently worth it right now. If the hondas or yamahas come out with the 4 stroke 150's then the 250dc or sf i would give it a look if it was considerably cheaper. I had a 246sf and i loved the boat but under powered and i needed more storage other than that it was great and i had many great offshore trips on it. The GB are great boats but you will be giving up horsepower that really makes a difference. When the 150's 4-strokes come out you might want to look at the GB with them on it. All i can say is 50+ on my TE is great i love the extra speed and storage thats what made my decision. Also depends on your finacial situation get what you can afford but if you can afford the bigger boat and motors go for it!!
Thanks for your input. I am going to the boat show on Sunday for atest drive. Are there any options that you would definitely add to the TE.
Also do you know how negotiable they are on price? Will you get your best price at the show,
or should you send out bids to different dealers.
They are advertising the boat show price on the 270sd as $88,390. Is this fair?
where are you going to test one?? I added seats to the side of my boat just like on the sd. Its great for ridding out or for u diving. When i start to fish i undo them and put them away until we leave .
i think your near the fair price did the 88,000 come with a trailer? whats the price difference between the te and sd? I added the seat on both sides really nice.
Worldcat. The price is without the trailer. I would also have to add Windlass and dive ladder.
It is quoted with Bimini Top and not The Hard Top. I was going to keep the boat in dry storage.
I wasn't planning on trailering it. My thinking was if I decided to move the boat I would trailer at a later date. Couple people have told me to go ahead and buy the trailer and just store it myself. I am able to afford the boat, I just want to make sure I am getting a good deal.
The sales skills that I have encountered during my shopping have been marginal at best. If I ever change careers I have pondered cruising up and down the Atlantic and Gulf Coast to conduct sales skill seminars to these boat dealerships. If these salespeople would focus on solving the needs of their customer instead of putting a commission check in their pocket, they would find their sales would increase dramatically. I almost feel like I'm buying a diamond for my wife. Its such a blind item if you know what I mean! Any input on the best way to negotiate at the boat show would be appreciated.
Worldcat,
I didn't answer your question in my last post. I was told the price for the te and sd were the same. They recommended the sd because of the middle transom door for diving, but I like your idea of adding the seats in the back. I think I would have plenty of room for 4 to 6 on a dive trip. My other concern about the Sd was the Hardtop. It looks like if I was fighting a fish it might be a challenge manuevering to the front of the boat. Do you know what the Max occupancy is for the 270 te?
they make the 270sf yes but for diving he will be better suited for the te with the split transom in back. It will hold 10 people. Well 88k is not that bad for that boat you can proabaly get them down more; boat are so over priced with this economy right now i don't know of to many people buying 100k boats. If i can i will take some pictures of mine and e-mail them to ya. whats your email??
27 te for diving,, 27 sf for fishing... only diff is the transom. you need fish box room in the transom or a transom door? i'd definitely go with the te or sf.
If you were quoted $88,000 on a 270SD and they told you it was the same price for the 270TE. Buy the 270TE with a T-Top. If you are entertaining 40% of the time and fishing 40% of the time and diving 20% of the time. Buy the 270SD. If you can get a 270TE for $88K it is a steal as the boat with 225 Hondas is about $114,000. I sell them everyday, I am the VP of marketing for World Cat. I have to agree with you that salespeople sometimes spend more time trying to sell something then solving problems. If there is anything I can do to help you in your decision or go over the differences in the boat please let me know.
Mugzy, I have a 266SF (same as 270SF). For diving go with the TE,(transom gate). For fishing go with the SF. The SF has much more fish box on the transom. Either would be a good choice tho.
I love the 250 dc its a great all around boat and with the 130 hondas it does 42 mph a great alternative if you dont want to spend the extra cash on the 270 te
