Any Difference between Syn Blend GL5 75W-90 Gear Oil & Syn Marine Lower Unit Lube?? I have a 94 Johnson 140hp v-4 2 stroke engine.
I found some Super Tech Synthetic Blend SAE 75W-90 Gear lubricant whichmeets the following specs:API GL-5, API MT-1, SAE 2360, MACK GO-J,MIL-PRF-2105E, and PG-2.
It says it is a multipurpose extreme pressue gear lubricant to be usedwhere API GL-5 lubricants are recommended. It is recommend for manualshift transmissions, conventional differentials, rear axles, steeringgear boxes found in cards, trucks, tractors, farm equipment. Protectsgainst rust, foam, high temp, and corrosion of copper or bronze bushings
From the label, it looks like it would be the same as the Johnson Ultra-HPF Gear Case lube or the Pennzoil Gearcase lube since it meets the GL-5 spec which most Lower Unit Lube state they meet.
Is there any difference between the GearSyn GL-5 75W-90 Gear Lubricant for transmissions and Marine Labeled GL-5 75W-90 Lower Unit Lubricant ? Same for the non Syntheic 80W-90 Gear Lubricant vs. Lower Unit Marine Lubricent 80W-90?
Is it okay to use this to the Syn Gear Lube replace the existing Marine lube? |
