Where are you located? My advise is to give Jay at Black Lab Marine a call first. You won't be disappointed!!!

add to my original questions....

what trailer would you pick ? and why? galavanized? aluminum? disc? surge? torsion or spring axles?

will the 23 be alot more nimble handling in tight spots and in windy conditions?

Both great hulls. The best choice depends on how YOU will use the boat. In HardTop or new SuperTop configuration, I would personally go with a V23. If you want the new walkaround cabin, the V26 gives you more fishing room. Give Jay a call, he will HONESTLY answer all your questions.

I would like to have an aluminum trailer. I have a galv. tand. with disc breaks and LED lights.
You can see my rig in my photo album.
I chose the 23 for the distance I travel and yes the 26 would catch more wind , it's a bigger boat.

If ya want to talk call me 903-815-0256 Lester

i've talked to Jay many times, and I value his thoughts and input and knowledge

I'm looking for feedback from owners or opinions from folks that have taken a hard look at these two hulls

I will use the boat for fishing the Gulf of Mexico out to 50 mile, but mostly out to 20 mile bottom fishing and trolling........ along with in the bay and inland waterways for fishing, family day cruising and leisure boating, cast netting,..............basic all around boat with offshorfe capability,I don't want to have to wax and repair stuff in my spare time(unless it's worn out tackle)

i will use it year round, but don't want a pilot house

I know i want fuel economy, I want to trailer with a 1/2 ton 4x4 and I don't want a complicated boat that is a burden to use or maintain, I want easy to use basic electronics and don't need the fancy smancy gadgetry
that costs alot and never gets used,I want a trailer that doesn't break the bank,it will be parked in a lot mostly,........rarely used while the boat is on a lift

to answer your question...

i would get the 23 with a DF225 or 250...faster, more flexible, certainly easier to maneuver, fish, trailer, etc especially if you are solo, not to mention much less expensive and likely easier to resell (like you would ever do that)

i cant see how theres anything i couldnt/wouldnt do in the 26 that i couldnt do in the 23

on the trailer i'd get the cheapest galv trailer i could find, try champion in slidell
electronics i would go garmin for ease of use and reliability...you will have to mount on top of the console, but you will have plenty of room for a 3200 or 3500 series garmin screen

I will be through La. in june , heading for Pensicola Fl. and can stop anywhere along the way coming or going.

Chris it would be cool to get both our rides in a pic on the water.

And to catch some of those monster's like I have seen in your pictures.

Talk to Steve at East Coast Trailers (THT vendor). He set me up with a nice Alum. Load Master trailer that fits like your best pair of shoes. Great customer support too.

Test both of the hulls, and make your pic. Cgrand is correct, the 23 will do all of what the 26' will do. It comes down to what you want for room. Jettywolf has a 26' without the hardtop. You may want to "ping" him.

My major heartburn with Black Lab is that they don't offer a jet drive option. If they made a 28 footer with a pilot house and twin 454s pushing jets...man, dat would be da shiz.
