Cooler seat

Has anyone modified one of those cooler seats on a bay boat to act like a leaning post seat . or any mod. to make it more friendly

I tried several different things over several years...from trying to fix the backrest more forward to buying a giant fender to put on top of it.

Finally I removed it and added a leaning post...works much better than any of my other "modifications."

I used to sit on couple cushions on top of the cooler seat. Then I made a couple blocks of wood to the right size and wedged them fore and aft of the swingback arms to hold the back about 2/3's of the way forward so i could lean on it. Then I just ditched it and built a leaning post with room for a cooler under it.

Google leaning posts, custom leaning posts, ect... There is some slick stuff out there if you want to pay for it. Plus you could always have something custom made to your specs.
