Random Quote: To Be the Man, You Gotta Beat the Man
Hi there. Have been lurking here for years and finally joined. Just sold my Contender and am thinking of buying a diesel powered center console. I know of the Albin, Albemarle, & Sea Vee but have no experience with them. I'm sure there are others I do not know about and would appreciate any enlightenment. Looking for single diesel only and it will need to be trailerable. Preferably under 30 feet as well. Thanks for any input, James
Check out the 28' Whitewater (http://www.whitewaterboats-mia.com/28ft.htm) Great boats, built to last, used by guides in the keys. I have one with a Cummins 6bta 5.9 315 hp. Very, very happy with it for offshore fishing. Clean transom with livewell, no motors in the way. Easy access to all things mechanical. 30 mph cruise.
It is very helpful to learn the basics of your new/used diesel (if you don't already know) in order to do preventive maintenence, know your engine and save money all at the same time. Join boatdiesel.com and you have a group to help answer questions. The new QSB's are much quieter, use less fuel , less smokey and you can get up to 480hp. Or you can have Norm put in a cummns recon which are new engines but of the older design, like I have, to save money.
Good luck and if I can help anymore feel free to ask.....
Another vote here for the Whitewater 28.
I was very close to ordering mine with a Yanmar 300 but opted for twin O/Bs. WW hinges the entire console so you have easy access to the engine.
Take a look at the links below. They are the original Cape Cod 26' (now Albin 26). I have seen both boats, and both are very impressive. the second boat "Jessie" raises the fish!
Well, since we're putting in votes, I'm gonna have to give the Shamrocks my vote. Either the Shamrock 270 Open or Shamrock 260 Stalker (Cuddy) will fit your criteria. You get standard a 315HP Yanmar in the 270 and a 240HP Yanmar in the 260 or as an option you can get the 315HP in the 260.
Oh....and I'm not biased towards the Shammies at all.

Cave Man,
I own a 2005 Bimini center with a yanmar inboard. It would be perfect for FLA! My Brother Dan owns the company in ocean city md. He has a website,, check it out.
They Have the Palm Beach edition on the floor now!
I would prefer the cape cod/albin 26 but here are some others
Conch 27 inboard
I've seen an Ocean Runner 28 in a diesel
Both of these are very good sea boats as are most that are mentioned above
Thanks for the input. Stumbled upon a Gillikin diesel CC. They are cold molded and custom made. Any thoughts? Thanks, James
I cannot recommend that Brand.
Adding to what has already been listed:
Take a look at True World Marine. Volvo or Yanmar with outdrive, and I understand they now offer full inboard too.
Dusky will build with a diesel inboard.
