Ethanol damages fiberglass tanks ?

I keep hearing about this problem with gasoline with 10 % ethanol added eating away at fiberglass fuel tanks. In the last 10 years or so I have seen every gas station in Ct. having there old inground tanks pulled out and replaced with FIBERGLASS TANKS . what gives ?

only tanks made prior to about 1984 are affected...goes for boats as well as general use...composition of resin changed about that time......unfortunatly for me i have a 1970 boat and have had some problems......do a search on this site and look at the ethanol section on the bertram 31 site and you will learn everything there is to know about it
