I think Plantation is trying to take the "shady" out of the equation. Deep Impacts problem has always been that they build a great boat but provided no service or follow-up when customers had issues, like many small boat builders. I have talked to several DI owners who love their boats, but hate the company reps because they were too busy to keep the custer service level high.
Plantation has a dedicated service facility that will take care of the customer after the sale and stream line the relationship between the manufacturer, owner and service facility. Hopefully, in the future, this relationship will payoff for everyone involved.
As for the price doubling, DI has used the same pricing sheet that Plantation is currently using. Prices have not changed since 2005. There have, however, been many new options added to the price list. The boats that are being built for Plantation are fully loaded and are more $ than a stripped boat. Maybe that's the difference?
I don't mean to sound like a commercial for DI or Plantation, I 'm only reporting what I see and hear down here.
