Default kicker motor-bracket and motor

Anybody have advise about mounting kicker motor bracket and motors.
I recently purchased 1993 Pursuit 1950 CC. Boat has Yamaha 115 engine.
What size HP kicker?
Long shaft or short etc?

I would think it would be to heavy for that size of boat & lien to that side...

While it might lean to one side or the other, that can be counterbalanced by putting the kicker on the side opposite the battery(s). We had a 6 hp kicker on our, dare I say it, Bayliner for a number of years and had no real problem with it listing to one side. Only problem we had with that was my weight on one side without counterbalance on the other side. We now have a 22 foot dual console fishing boat with a 9.9 hp kicker and it, unfortunately, is mounted on the same side as the batteries and me and does a list a bit at rest or trolling, but rides very level when on plane. I think it depends on the type of kicker bracket you buy as to whether you need a long or short shaft kicker but I bought a 25" shaft kicker to attach to my fixed RemoteTroll bracket that is attached to the boat, a eurotransom, on the step. It pushes my 22' boat as well as I need and just tilts up when we get ready to go somewhere a little bit faster. In short, don't worry about the list, it will be very minimal and shouldn't cause you any real problems.

I have a 185 edgewater with a 115 efi main and a 9.9 hp high thrust kicker. It was a pain and a lot of work to make a stationary mount and backing plate out of phenolic. There is a slight list to the boat since it is on the same side as my two batteries.

It will save a lot of hours on the main motor on all of theose salmon trolling hours. Also, having a kicker gives you peace of mind. At lest you have a second chance to get home and not have to wait around for vessel assist or a good samaritian out there.

get a longshaft so that the motor can be placed higher up when traveling on the water.

don't use a mount that is adjustable....they break and can't take the weight while trailering.

I made one by welding two stainless plates onto a panther stainless steel adjustable.

I have a 1991 17' Boston Whaler Outrage with a 5hp 4-stroke merc kicker on the back next to a 1991 120hp Johnson...I'm not sure what the exact weight is but the boat handles the weight without a problem...I installed a Garrick (sp?) fixed kicker bracket...if I were to do it again I'd have one fabricated...I saw a really neat one on a bass boat after I had mine installed...bummer...but the bracket was very well built and rugged...it wasn't going anywhere...

As for pushing the boat...I had the same engine on a 17' Montauk without a problem...pushed it around 5-6mph...and with a kicker, you're not getting any faster then that...
