Default guide recommendation for marlin fishing in Ocean City, MD?

Hey -

I have a friend who wants to do a charter trip for marlin in Ocean City, MD this summer. This is an older gent who has some money, so he's looking for a top-notch captain, with a great boat (with an awesome ride), and a friendly attitude. Not looking for a marine corps drill sergant. Any suggestions from the locals? Your help would be much appreciated to make this once-in-a-lifetime trip a success.

Jamie

Try posting on Tidalfish (can I say that) as there are a lot of locals who fish OC all year and some are charter capts/mates as well.

Good luck

Glenn

No, seriously Capt. Joe Riley is a highly regarded Charter Boat Captain in Ocean City. His pink boat is easy to recognize out at The Canyon and he always produces.

Jamie,

There are approximately 150 charter boats operating out of Ocean City during the
summer months. All are excellent charter captains and most of the boats are excellent.
I have not heard any negative reports from there in years and I fish there most of the
summer myself.

I live in OC MD for the summer and have my boat at Sunset Marina. Great charters there or at their sister marina OC Fishing Center. Just google them for the web address. I used to go out of the Fishing Center on the Endeavor w/ Capt. Rob Skillman. Great guy and always put us on tuna. He did ok with the marlin as well. Problem would be his boat is 40'. Plenty more that are bigger if your friend is looking for a better ride. If you go out of Sunset ask for Barb and tell her Mike with the Century sent you. She's really nice to deal with and the Mgr.

Good luck with whatever your friend chooses.

Sunset Marina - OC, Md. The "Marli" 58' Richie Howell. Capt Mark Hoos and Capt Brian Porter. Both good anglers and nice guys. $2000 for marlin.

I also recommend Capt Ed Zajdel and Capt Ron Zajdel of The Zipper. a 47' Buddy Davis. They charge $1700 for a marlin trip.

Lots of others. Go to www.ocsunsetmarina.com or call 1-877-514-3474

Good Luck and let us know how he does.
