Default My wife's kitchen

Well as many of you know I moved up from a 1997 Pro-line 231 to a Pro-line 2950 this past winter. One of the reasons I went for the boat was because I purchased the boat approx $20k below value. The reason for the low cost was because the boat clearly was not maintained well and neglected mechanically. When I bought the boat, I took in consideration that I would need to invest some money in her to get her up to par again. The hull is in very good shape with no dings or blemishes-just needed a compound and wax. The boat also had a brand new enclosure and the drives were new as mercruiser replaced them due to some corrosion. Well my hopes of using the boat all season and repowering the boat over the winter were shot when my starboard engine started to fail me. As you can see from the photo below the engines head finally gave way and the cylinders filled with water (along with all that rust ).

So instead of my wife getting a new kitchen this fall, she will have to wait until at least the spring. I am currently having both engines replaced despite the port engine having good compression and running well. This will give me a good hull with two new engines, drives, and enclosure for still $10k below any other 1998 30'er listed out there. (less than $55k invested)

I also must say that North Atlantic Marine Group www.namg.net just outside of Annapolis has treated me like a king. They will have both engines replaced within two weeks (I pick her up for this weekend! )They always call me to follow up on the progress made and were more than willing to work with me dollar wise to do both engines now. If anyone is looking for a Regulator, Albemarle, Pro-line, Albin, Ocean, or Bertram, I would highly recommend them. They have always treated me well.

Surely a boat that size has a kitchen.

silverg, the boat has a small kitchen. However I think that is what my wife had in mind.

AGULHAS, The different colors added a nice touch. A couple of cylinders with coolant and a couple with sea water. The wood is a create that the engine is sitting on it is out of the boat. The new ones are on their way in!

Greg,

SWEET!!! You'll be all set for the fall striper run! Got any room under that nice new full enclosure for one more?? My little CC gets cold that time of year....

Anyway, drop me a line and we'll hook up for some cold ones. I know I'll be out and about at least two days this weekend.

Glad to hear your having a good experience w/ NAMG.

Brian,

Lots of room. Besides, after the good spring it appears you had, you will have to show me your spots. I will have to get the outriggers rigged and ready for when the big ones come back up the bay. (although I prefer not to troll).

I'll shoot you an email when I get her back and know what the plans are for the weekend.

My spots are no secrets. I got most of my fish on the eastern shore from a hundred yards below the bridge to probably three miles below.

I'm going to start pullling for blues soon. Red surgical hoses and small spoons. We (my bro and I) really got into those in the Patapsco last fall. Good lord...it's almost fall already!!!

I do most of my fall rock fishing out of Chesapeake Beach. However, last year my friend who runs the Fishbone's Bait & Tackle in Pasadena got a 49"er at Love Pt right around Thanksgiving.

You're welcome to go w/ me anytime.

C'mon cold water!!!!!

Now, I've just got to get out of the "trolling ballyhoo at 6 kts w/ 13 lbs. of drag" frame of mind! Well, maybe not yet...

B-faithful, at least you came out on the winner side of the boat/kitchen negotiation. You should see the big new house my wife got while I get to keep my small old boat a few more years...

svenski, as-is deal. The $55+k even after the new motors I saved over a new one is my warrantee.

gw204, I had a decent fall last year. However my largest fish was only a hair over 37". I would love to get a 49"er. I have only fished the bay the last 3 years. I am used to fishing off the coast of NJ. We will definately hook up for some fishing. I was called by the service rep. at the marina today and she confirmed that I will have the boat back for this weekend

Preoccupation, despite my wife being a stay at home mom and seeing the kitchen a lot, she also enjoys the boat. Not as much as me or my son. Then again it gives her some alone time when I take the boy out-that could be more her thinking .

bonita blues, I hope I don't have your luck. I have gone over the boat pretty good and had a surveyor go over the boat when I purhcased it. All the very costly items now have been replaced like the power, drives, and enclosure. I plan on going through her extensively over the winter. Anything else should be something that I can handle or get some help from my father.

A few years ago I cashed in enough stock options to purchase a small boat and remodel the kitchen. I then purchased a bigger boat that we planned so there went the kitchen. I named the boat Kathee's Kitchen to make her feel better...

Door#3, that's funny! A couple of years ago my wife wanted new couches but I got a puppy instead and told her I'd name him Couch! She didn't go for it but I did postpone the new furniture for 2 years since a puppy would just ruin them, after all!
