Default Good Marine Mechanic wanted in CA

I can't seem to find anyone with marine engine repair experience in CA that is looking for a job.

I own a Honda Marine (and soon to be Suzuki) dealership in Oxnard CA, (50 miles north of Los Angeles along the Pacific Coast). I need an outboard mechanic (I/O experience a +) with good diagnosis/repair skills and outboard installation experience, AND who has the desire and ability to move up as a shop foreman as the business continues to grow (and yes we ARE growing). Right now our shop is small, just four people, but demand for our services is increasing rapidly. I offer good starting salary, year round employment, 3 weeks paid vacation, and bonus/profit sharing.

If you are interested, please email your resume to specialtymarine@cox.net.

Who can blame them . . . with a mechanics salary on the west coast . . . you'll be living in a van down by the river (if you're lucky). Cost of living on east coast is a lot less.

Big Shrimp: There are no rivers in Southern California :-) . Well, there is ONE, but that's down by the Mexican border.

Actually, pay isn't bad, + 3 weeks paid vacation + bonus/profit sharing. The right individual may get partial ownership down the road. The long term financial picture looks good for someone who doesn't just want to be a mechanic their whole life.

You might try to recruit this guy out of retirement.

The real good ones are already working and pretty much happy with their pay (especially in CA). When I left the service end of the business some years back, our master certified tech's were clearing 35/hour. Probably more by now.

Of course there might be someone willing to leave for greener grass...

Good luck!
