Morse vs Teleflex Hydraulic Steering I've got one of the last Morse hydraulic steering systems on my 1987 Cabo 216. Sometime around that time Teleflex bought out Morse. It's my understanding that "old man" Morse invented the hydraulic steering system in the 30's. Teleflex bought them out to get a monopoly on the pleasure boat market; i.e. Seastar and Baystar. Three times that i will not go into my hydraulic lines either broke by or came off the cylinder connector. Each time it happened offshore quite a ways and a lot of fluid was lost turning the wheel. Fortunately I kept a bottle of fluid on board. All i had to do to recharge the system is turn the wheel all the way one way, add fluid to top. Then turn the wheel all the way the other way and add fluid. After doing this a few times my steering was back to normal. No bleeding was necessary.
Is there a difference between the Morse and Teleflex hydraulic steering systems where the Morse system is self bleeding?
