I traded my Scout 172 Sportfish for the Trophy 2103. The Scout 202 sportfish is not really in the same class as the Trophy 2103. The Trophy 2103 is the better choice and better value. th Trophy is much deeper and more suited for bigger water. You'll take alot of water over the transom with the Scout 202. Layout, ride, fishability. You get so much more for the money. When I was looking, it was the Scout 235 Sportfish that I compared the Trophy to. Very nice boat, but couldn't justify the price difference. With the Trophy, you're stuck with a Mercury. Being a previous Yasmaha owner, I was a little concerned, but the Mercury 200 EFI that powers my boat has been great. It has always started instantly and has not as much as sneezed all year. Seriously comsider the 2103, especially with the Pro-pack

At first I thought you were kidding... Not that they're not both good boats for the price but that you asked the question here on 'THT'. I'd quess the post above is the best one you'll see. By the way, I've heard the Trophy is a great boat. SWS liked it for what that's worth and I've seen some other posts from very happy owners. Good luck.

I bought the 2103 trophy pro as my bay boat. Its great, well made for a 21 fter.Got a huge live bait well, lots of well storage, salt water washdown, the walk in storage in the console with porti potti is great....The t-top is made from good aluminum. They really stepped up trophy over the last couple of years. Its well made..Heavier than most 21 ft boats out there. The metal, screws etc are all well made....no signs of rust etc that u get from cheap stuff.I drove it to montauk last week in 3 ft waves. Its fine....But thats the bigest waves i go in with it. I have a 225 optimax on it..Runs smooth...Its heavy enough to get a couple guys on one side fishing, without much listing..I recommend it.

Boat are expensive enough especially in depreciation. Go with the Scout just because the bad rap that Bayliners get. Their re-sale value is very poor.

egrp......Before you run your mouth...check some details...
21 trophy vs 20 scout
weight 3,500 vs 1980...so do the math

fuel 101 gallons vs 70

gunnals are much higher...

its heavier than a 24 scout

Im not saying scouts arent good..they are..but the guy here is comparing the two boats. For a 21, the boat is built like its much bigger. I dont even know of some 25 fters that weigh 3,500 lbs...

You know the reputations that the manufacturers have, so it comes down to a value judgement on your part.

Cost vs the items below...

Quality
Depreciation
Customer service
Features / Layout preference

Make yourself a list and rank the importance. Then rank the two boats against each listed item. Add the scores and compare. You may be surprised at the results. Doing a matrix like that will help you realize your consumer values.

get off your soapbox......What im trying to say is..even if you lose 50% resale..you only lose 10,000 gs thats all...So look into a comment before you start whining..And if the guy has years of fun with that boat, then to me thats the best 10,000 bucks he ever spent!!!!! Its not all about the money..Its about having fun with a boat

I was pretty impressed with the Trophy 21' myself. It is a bit crowded aft as it has a huge leaning post. I looked the boat over and it was finished nicely, had good hardware, and the layout was fairly well thought out.

One limitation you will find is that the Trophys come rigged with Mercs every time I have seen one.

Now, would I buy one myself. Tough question. I truly feel that Trophy quality is there, but unfortunately the bad rep seems to still exist.

Trophy may be building better boats, but it is very hard to get rid of a bad reputation. For the same amount of money, I'd look into a used boat. You'll get more boat and not lose the initial depreciation.

Some of the weight difference can be accounted for by the fact that the published Trophy weight is a 'rigged' weight and the Scout's is not.

Hard to read much into a SWS review. "... great for family pinics." Not exactly what I'm looking for. My Scout SF175 has never taken water over the transom.
