Have you ever owned a boat before? If not, the Search link will be too overwhelming. Will all due respect, 33' is not the place to start figuring out wind speeds and directions. Good luck with your new boat!

Hire a local captain to teach you about your boat and basic seamanship. Good luck and enjoy.

LoL ....Nope never had a boat before. The problem is there are no local captains available and no one to guide me regarding the winds and weather. The local weather forecast is SAD! and cannot be trusted. So is 33' a good size or bad? Anyways I get wind speeds of 20km/h here and was wondering if its' safe venturing out .If not what should be my maximum wind speed limit?

If you have never owned a boat before, 20km/h = 12.5 mph winds are not going to be your biggest problem, it's just moving this boat! Did you sea-trial it or just like the looks and wrote a check? 33' is not a bad size, just not the norm for a 1st boat! Definately try to find someone to teach you how to drive it.

You will learn to run the boat. As for wind speed--I go by knots--there is no "minimum". I would not tend to go out if the wind was over 20 knots until you are very experienced.
As for direction--it depends on what type of water you go on--ocean, ocean with a bar entrance, river, canal, lake etc. The more wind, the higher the seas. Seas over 3 feet may become uncomfortable for a boat that size. Wind against current will make steeper and more difficult waves. If the waves (wind driven) are comming onshore, and the tide is comming out (ebb), a bar or channel may become dangerous--and you may want to revise down ward the max wind velocity/ wave height you can take on.

Good boating

dont go more than 15 kilometres from the marina, to start with
unless there is a large swell running...20 km/h wind wave is fine and wont present you with any real problems
the problem is when you go out with 20km/h and come home in 100km/h
you really need to befriend other owners in the marina, tell them you are new
invite them out for the day... a "free" trip in exchange for seamanship lessons

Leaving the dock and returning to the dock (without hitting other boats or damaging your boat) are two critical skills that you will have to learn.

Running a boat is not at all like driving a car. With a boat you have to anticipate the changes that will happen after you turn the steering wheel or make changes in engine speed.

There are dozens of safety considerations that you will never have though of . . . explosive gas fumes in the bilge being one

We are all glad you have entered the sport of bating, but PLEASE get some knowledgeable help. PLEASE. Books will help but knowlegeable help from an experienced individual is ESSENTIAL.

Good luck and happy cruising.

If you have that boat in Abu Dhabi, and are planning on using it alot inside the Arabian Gulf, those waters are fairly sheltered, it can get choppy, but for the most part they lack a heavy or large "swell" as it would be around Hormuz. Couple things to look out for, avoid driving through fleets of Dhows (fishing boats) they have nets EVERYWHERE, and can get pretty pesky. and stay FAR away from the Naval Ships running around the Gulf, I say this becuase Im a Navigation Watch Officer onboard one, and we really dont like boats getting to close to us.....you can always rest assured E-2 is standing very close to a .50 cal staring you down.....Im not trying to say this to be a smart azz, Im telling you to warn you, and save you the troubles.....Ive been on 3 deployments in the gulf, and its hard enough dodging the dhows, but even worse when small pleasure craft start creeping in on you.

You're in some BEAUTIFUL waters over there, just awfully busy at times. Enjoy your ride!!
