Boats you thought stood out at the Atlantic City Show
In no apparent order the boats that I thought had the it factor. I thought the new 30 Henriques looked like alot of boat for 30 ft, although only 2 ft bigger than the 28 it looked much bigger with the beam 2ft wider. The price also jumpef from $180k for the 28ftr to $285k for the 30 ftr. The usual suspects where nice the Southport 28te, 31Bahama although the fit n finish didn't look better than the southport when I saw them together at the show. The 33t Contender except for the plastic sliding door where the electronics are mounted. The Jupiter and the brand I thought had the best fit n finish atleast in the 29 and the new 35ftr the Everglades. And last but not least the Venture although my expectations where built up so high from hearing this was the benchmark for the big CC's I thought the fit n finish was on par with the other boats mentioned but not above them. The last thing that stood out was the Sailfish 3006. It was a nice looking boat, the fit n finish weren't in the class of the above mentioned IMHO but the price point was simply more accessible without taking your breath when you looked at the sticker. I didn't look closely at all the boats so those that where left out don't take offense.

I almost passed it by also, but it was empty and my son wanted to go onboard- didn't care for the fishboxes and storage but it seemed to be a step up. I didn't care for the new pursuits or tiara's either - still like mine better but I'm drawn to those big new outboards. My inboards are fine but nothing beats the outboards for get up and go.
RE: Boats you thought stood out at the Atlantic City Show
I thought the CC Northcoast boats, looked like alot of boat for their size as well...I am not very familar with them but looked pretty well built..I didn't spend too much time checking them out...the 36' Albemarle was a sweet looking rig as well.
Re: Boats you thought stood out at the Atlantic City Show
"EVERGLADES" 29 footer. Best CC at the show. They have a spot on the boat for everything you could need for fishing . The tackle station and storage is second to none. The enclosure around the "HEATED" console was nice. Almost like a pilot boat. It had twin zuks, but also comes with Honda and Yamaha out boards. The Southport boats were also very nice.
I went to see the McKee Craft 23ft. tournament cc, but they only had the 24 freedom, which I found out, are the same boat.
Not to many tackle deals at the show!! The show wasn't crowded at all, probably later tonight.

I just got back from the show and agree with everything fillet of soul said. These "semi-custom builders", Jupiter, Venture and Bahama are all very nice boats but I don't understand what all the hipe is when compared to Regulator, Everglades, Southport, Edgewater....... I think the fit and finish is on par with the production boats also mentioned. If I was on the market (had the money) for a reasonably sized family fishing boat I would be taking a long hard look at the 26 Southport and 26 Edgewater. I absolutely love those two boats. One day maybe/hopefully.
I am however on the market for either a 19 outrage or 188 edgewater (not at show, but have seen it) and for comparison sake looked at the 19' mckee. I don't want to start a war however I just don't see mckee being compared to the other 2 mentioned above. Style or fit and finish.
Compared to the NYC boat show I think the AC show was much better for people that participate on the THT. Many more fishing boats and small manufacturers that can't afford the NYC boat show. I thought it was great.
Re: Boats you thought stood out at the Atlantic City Show
Regs got three to four more models coming out and they wont be CC's... YAHOO!
The Sailfish caulk job in the back was absolutely horrid IMO. From the hype I hear I expected much better than that.
I was impressed with the Everglades. Hate the forward fishboxes though. The 31 Contender was a nice feeling boat to walk around...

Re: Boats you thought stood out at the Atlantic City Show
I didn't pay attention to the caulk job on the Sailfish. I guess I was looking at the size of the boat for the bucks I don't know how much they're discounting off that MSRP of $129k. What models bear did Reg say they where bringing out next year?
Re: Boats you thought stood out at the Atlantic City Show
I looked at small boats for a freind. I thought Maycraft had the most boat for the money. I liked the scouts better if she wants to pay more. The only boat I saw in the show I would ever want to own if I was buying was the 21 parker pilot house. And I thought the Buddy Davis 34 stole the show.
Re: Boats you thought stood out at the Atlantic City Show
Reg said they were to meet with their dealers and feel out what the customers desire. But it was stated they wouldn't be CC's. reg is looking to focus on a different customer group. Makes good sense...
If your looking for a maycraft look to Jarvis marine.. These guys are honest folks!

RE: Boats you thought stood out at the Atlantic City Show
Sailfish was far and away the most boat for the money. The fit/finish was better than anything in its price class. I'm looking at 23-26' trailerable W/A's and it really was much nicer than the others I saw(Century, HS, SeaFox, etc.) Cabin was sufficient for overnights(wife/kids) and the topside layout was exceptional.
The Wellcraft Coastals were very nice boats. I like roominess of the 25' The one at the show had a nice hardtop and was "discounted". Friendly folks there too. Definitely a dealer I would purchase from.
Fountain had some nice WA models, but $$$.
Topaz in the back of the room was a beautiful boat that I stared at for 5 mins before I took a peek inside.
Seaswirl really had some impressive new models on the floor. Much bigger than what I was looking at, but still impressive.
The show was well worth the $15. Can't compare it to Annapolis, but when its 20 degrees outside, it makes for a nice afternoon.
