Looking for a skiff, I want to get some info, Let me know your thoughts on past Experience with skiffs.
Carolina Skiff looks good, So does Sundance. Any other brands to look at?
Thanks!!!!!!!!
My friend has a Carolina skiff. J16 I believe. Tough as nails. Get into some real skinny water. Very flat bottom, very rough ride in chop. Boat needs to be well balanced while underway. I would highly recommend it for back bay usage in waters not too rough...

i bought an old whaler, a 70 katama 17', I love it for skinny water and I take it in the bay on nice day (Cbay). some day maybe a jack plate is a thought for me. Many good whaler for sale lately.
I've got a CS 17dlx - nice boat. Going to pick up a 198 Jones Brother Bateau this Friday - those are good boats as well.

I'm going to agree with another poster and say Bay Rider by Kencraft.
I have a buddy with a 17' CS. Overall it is an OK boat. It rides rough and the craftmanship is ok at best.
For the price I would say it is a good boat, especially for the bays and flats. If you do go the CS route
make sure you get enough power on the back. My friends is a 17 with a 60 yammi and it is grossly underpowered.
Would be a much better boat if it had the 90.
I would say it depends on the size of boat you wish to have. I wanted a large skiff and the only options were CS and Kencraft. I bought a used 24' Kencraft and am very pleased with it's ride and quality. The Intruder, Hancocks and the Jones Brothers Bateau.....all built here in Eastern Carolina are top drawer. I think the quality of the Kencraft is up there too, some will argue different. There is also Southern Skimmer, kind of middle of the road but very nice. Also the Riddick Bay Runner is pretty nice too. You see more Carolina Skiffs around here more than anything, especially lately with all the deals. I can't say they are the highest quality around but they are durable, no frills and probably the best bang for the buck.
What size are you wishing for and what do you wish to do with it? For instance, I will use mine with my family for the camping vacations on the islands and such as well as general fishing, some outside. I would have no qualms taking mine outside for some fishing on those bluebird days.
Okay so why hasn't anybody mentioned Jones Brothers...too high priced or what?

In response to how much, I have not set a price BUT would like to stay under 7K. I am not looking for a New skiff, I think that it is crazy to buy new, Of course that is my opinion. I would like to find about a 18 to 19. I want to be able to have 4 comfortable. I have two young boys, and they have a Mother.LOL.
I will be in lakes most of the time, and would like to hit the coast once a year or more to fish inlet and jetti. No offshore trips unless they are chartered.
I had a SUNDANCE 14' before and a friend had a 20' SUNDANCE. Both were great boats for there intended purpose. I chose the SUNDANCE because of it's no wood construction(which I think most of them have gone to now), and it's handling. They ride like there on rails. And they don't have a half bad ride in a light chop. We took the 20' one out 30 miles in the gulf several times on 1-2 foot seas.
