I just tried woody wax (http://www.woody-wax.com) since so many people are raving about it. As far as the hull and deck of my boat, I was totally unimpressed. However, for my aluminum (hard top, bow rails), I thought it did a super job. It took out mild pitting very nicely and the water now slides right off. My buddy put it on his aluminum trailer and loves it.
I'm sure there are other products out there but this was my experience.
I use Rupps Alumagard, and find it works well. It is easy to apply; spray on a rag and wipe down the tubing. It does leave a bit of a residue on the surface though. I've heard good things about Woody Wax and may try it. Does it require application and removallike regular wax?
I second the Alumaguard. Recommended by taco metals. Make sure your spots are corrosion . Mine were hard water deposits from the cr@ppy water in my area. A little CLR, a little Alumaguard and a big water softener and I'm fine...
And I third Rupp Alumaguard... it removes minor oxidation with a gentle rag and smells good too. The damn thing smells like an orange when you are done, the stuff is great. Get a beer and start rubbing it on and "massaging" it into the aluminum... like you might do to your wife... ahhaaaa. Good Luck
Boeshield T-9
On clean aluminum, to protect I use Boeshield T-9. It was developed by Boeing Aircraft to protect aluminum airframes. Follow the directions on the can it does what it claims and lasts for months. It is not slippery and does not wash off after a couple of wash downs of the boat like some of the other products.

We have started using a product called Nyalic www.nyalic.com before the boats leave the factory and have found after a year of use that it has completely prevented oxidization of the surfaces and is easy to maintain - repair....for what its worth!
