Default Input on Bayliner?

Hi my name is Patrick and I would like to know everyone's opnions on Bayliner boats. Particularly 2005 Bayliner 215 Classic. Pros, Cons any input would be appreciated since I have never owned a boat. Can I take this boat from Ft. Lauderdale to Bimini? Thanks for help!

cmon... again with the Bayliners? Just hit the search (upper left) and read the zillion or so threads that bash the crap out of Bayliners.

In my opinion, and it's only my opinion, you'd be best served to ask this question over on the Bayliner Owners Club. The link is here:

Bayliner Owners Club

Now I'm going to sit back and watch how many pages accumulate here.

Welcome to the forum Patrick.

You're going to get lots of opinions on Bayliners, they have been around a long time. Many people will put down Bayliners because they are considered an "entry level boat". In my opinion, they represent a good value for the price.

There is at least one Bayliner owner’s forum on the Internet. Search for it, I'm not going to disrespect the sponsor of this forum by providing a link. You'll get good information on Bayliners from actual Bayliner owners.

Can you take this boat from Ft. Lauderdale to Bimini? If you've never owned a boat before, my answer is "No", you can't. You probably shouldn't take any boat on such a journey until you have a lot more experience. People more familiar with this model can give you more specific advice, but I suspect it's too small and not really intended for ocean travel.

Hi Patrick - click here-
http://www.thehulltruth.com/search/q...t=&custom-end=

There is good and bad in all boats. Most importantly:

Keep safety in mind always, in your thoughts and in your physical preparedness on the water.

Have fun!

Take some courses at a USCG Aux. or Power Squadron group on boating.

Read and support THT! It is a great resource!

My sig is on a 23' Bayliner 18 miles out catching kings, and having a blast!

You are kidding right?

I think the ? you asked was Ft Lauderdale to Bimini in 21ft boat. I have never boated in those waters but I am going to guess that it is probably not a good idea in any 21 ft boat unless under perfect conditions.

The gentleman just joined the forum and has never owned a boat before. I don't think he's kidding, I think he's asking a serious question. All of us were beginners at one time and it wouldn't hurt to respectfully pass on some of our knowledge and experience to newcomers.

Hey Ron,

I think that I addressed his question w/o a bash or a lame plug for a 4S motorcycle engine.

Open ocean in a 21ft boat, C'mon.

Welcome to the forum
We all started somewhere my 1st boat was a bayliner 19' bowrider in 1985 it was getting a new boat at a very reasonable price or a piece of $$it old boat, it served its purpose very well I had a lot of good times wth my family on that boat .I new its limitations and didn't go offshore with it but its a OK starter boat
I've owned many boats since but I don't regret having owned one it gave me an opportunity to get started in whats been over 20 years of a hobby that I truly enjoy

Stop bashing not all of us have the$$$ to go out and get the ideal 1st boat

AS far as that trip a----------no no

bayliner is alot of bang for the buck , no they are not as heavy as some boats might not ride as nice but they dont cost as much to get into or at the gas dock , they do get you on the water and thats what counts , if you buy one you might just love it or use it as a stepping stone , not every on started driveing a with a cady

I was talking about the "You are kidding right? " comment. He's new to the forum and hasn't yet developed the thick skin sometimes necessary here.

Why not? My first boat was a 21' Dixie and I fished the crap out of it up to 40 miles east of NJ by picking my days. I have no exp. with Bayliners though.

I'm Trophy/Bayliner owner..... Gentleman, you can say anything about Bayliner, I don't care, but my little 24.5 Ft made me happy for quite some time and still does. Lots of fishing, rough seas, overnight trips....been there, done it.... I still LOVE the cabin, that you can not find in other boats same size!
Agree, they are not foam filled, but after 3-5 years see how much moisture the foam will trap and see how bad it's deteriorated- blisters ets.., please, correct me if I'm wrong. Lack of ventilation. My '92 Trophy still in good condition, just engines need some work.
But as far as 21' I don't think I would take a long trip on it, unless U have perfect weather, DON"T PUSH IT, use your head!!
If you dont have enough of experience the open water, DON'T DO IT, plus it's only 21'!!!!!
I'd rather buy trailer, you can find a used good one and save some $, I think you will use it anyway down the road, guarantee.
Just enjoy what you have and invest the rest of money for your retirement or bigger boat later or spend on gas and use it EVERYDAY!!!!!
Have fun!
