Default Diffrent kind of charter

Went out on a little different charter this weekend with the wife and 2 other couples. The wife won a $100 discount for Reliant Marine ( www.reliantmarine.com ) at the last Raleigh Salt-Water Sportfishing Club (www.rswsc.org) meeting. We went down on Saturday night for the Wrightsville Beach Christmas Flotilla, boat parade and fire works. Capt. Marty Foerster did a great job of getting us in a prime spot, with a great view of all the action. After a few adult drinks to warm us up and some KFC to fill us up, the parade started and had 15-10 boats. From the big Coast Guard boats down to the skiffs, the lights and decoration were great. After the parade, (I think the Cat-in-the-Hat won) the town put on the best fireworks show I have ever seen. Then it was back to the dock to tie up for the night. Yep, all 6 people got to sleep on the boat very comfortably, with the nice marine clubhouse close by (great showers, fireplace, and t.v.).
Sunday a.m. we headed out of Masonboro Inlet about 18-24 miles for some king action for half the day, then over to a ledge for a little bottom fishing. What is different about this charter is that you can be the Capt. (just rent the boat) or for the same price have Capt. Marty do the driving. You will be the mate- putting in and out the dock lines, rigging the baits, gaffing, cleaning the fish and boat. If you want to learn how to do this Capt. Marty will teach you. He is great at this, does not make you fell stupid or try to over whelm you with things. He also can teach charting, nav., maintenance, how to dock…
This is starting to sound like an ad for them, but it is just what we expraiced this weekend. If the full charters are out of you price, and you don’t mined doing some of the work yourself, or if like me, you are looking to learn, this might be for you.

Sounds like your charter was a good one.

MJ1Angier,
What are you doing with a picture of my wife with that nice "King"???... No, seriously, we did have a great time on the boat this past weekend. What you neglected to mention was that my wife (the one holding up the only "king" that made it into the boat) landed the two largest fish of the weekend. No doubt, there were larger fish on the line and were fought, but "her's" will actually make it to the dinner table.
I agree with you that the professionalism and the amount of learning that took place over that short period of time (this past weekend) with Mr. Foerster, was well worth the drive to Wrightville, and the fireworks display and "flotilla" were beyond compare. It was a great experience (although a little cold for my blood) and we thank you very much for the opportunity to spend the weekend with you and your wife!!

Thanks again,
Chris and Elsje

Glad ya'll had a good time. The fireworks are always great. One of these years I'm going to get the nerve to take the boat out there to see them. Are the Kings srill in that close? Mmmmmm.
Might have to try this weekend.
