Default mirage sportfishing boats

Is anyone familiar with these boats the come with an IO diesel volvo kam 300 or 350, or yanmar io, or twin outboards. I saw them at the boat show in 2001 I thought it was a nice looking boat I went for a ride in the volvo 300 IO, I thought the ride was a little rough in 3-4 chop. I liked the pilot house version and at the time the boat seemed like reasonable bang for the buck. My concerns where the low gunnels and I wasn't familiar with and am still don't know much about the reliability of volvo and yanmar IO's. The company subsequently stopped building their sportfishing boats to concentrate on the high demand for their trawlers. I've never heard anything about the long time reliability and durability of the hulls. I would appreciate at feed back on the boats?

They stopped making the sportfish models and they are only making the big trawlers. If you go to there website they have it posted that they are no longer ma,ing the sportfish models.

They will make you a sportfish if you order one, they will not give a delivery date, I called them to talk about one , I found 1 for sale, They have fiberlass fuel tanks made into the hull which I was concerned about, they said there tanks were made for gas, 0 problems reported, I like the layout of the boat.

I heard they where making them again. I've just never heard anyone talk about them in terms of offshore use. I only went out once on a quick sea trial in miami the seas where a bit confused due to a breeze and the cruise ships heading out. I thought the right was a bit rough but it could have been the conditions. I was curious to hear from anyone thats owned the boat.

I own a 34 outboard version , that i just repowered with twin 300 hpdi yamahas. This is the fourth repower for this boat since new in 1997. So that should tell you something right there ! the boat is a tank , and will get you anywhere and get you back in almost any sea conditions . She is not a nimble speedster , rather more like a large sea going TANK. The boats where built well so buying used like i did is not a issue if the boat was well taken care of. I considered selling mine for a diesel version of the same boat when gas hit 3$, but love the speed and pick up of the twin 300's .I dont get the best milage but i do get about 1.1 miles per gallon 36 mph in open seas . If i push her , she will do 46 mph wot at 55 gallons a hour. I had twin 250 suzukis new when i bought her in 2004 , but wasnt happy with my power , speed or my motors . because i had a boat made for a 25.5 inch center to center motor mounts my options where limited and i decided on the yamaha hpdi 300 despite the issues they seem to have or did have . Well i had issues with them within 40 hours , but since fixed i have had 100 trouble free hours . As for the boat, there is no better set up for fishing in all aspects than the mirage with its deck space , beam , fish boxes , full real cabin with stand up head , range and ride. Check out my website www.titlewavesportfishing.com and take a peek at what we catch in mine up to 150 miles from our home dock , so yes we trust in our Mini Battle Ship . Good luck with you boat hunting
