Default How to check a surveyors credentials?

Insurance company sent out a surveyor who I was less than impressed with...much less. Is there a way to check him out? Are they licensed, registered, etc. ?

Some of them are registered or recognized by professional organizations, not up on the current list, but it should be out there. Checked with some of the big yacht/boat finance houses. The last one I used was recognized by Lloyds of London

Don't know what your circumstances are, but if the insurance company hired him, he represents their interests. If you hire him, he represents yours.

Correct, when I hired the surveyor when buying my boat he also had a rate for insurance surveys, I think it was about $250-$300.
