Default Smaller Carolina boats

Love those Carolina hulls! You never see any smaller than mid-40's. They had to make some smaller ones at some point. I can't find any Carolina hull boats in the mid 30 foot range. Were they ever made? Anybody have any info?

Jags:
There are a few around, although they really aren't common. We're talking true Carolina custom boats. I believe Jarrett Bay built a couple single-engine 35 Express boats at one time.
Most of the Carolina builders started and still do build mostly charter boats, and nobody wants to run a 35-foot charter boat to the Stream out of Hatteras or Oregon Inlet year-round. That's why most of them start at about 45-48 feet in length and go up from there. I'll hunt around and see if I can find a mid-size Carolina boat for you, though...

My mistake, it's a 38 Express with twin 450 hp. diesels. Anyone got a half-mil to loan a poor outdoor writer for a new boat??

East Bay at Harkers Island builds some midsized boats. I was there last week and saw a few in the 33 ft. range. I saw a 33 ft. open with twin 450 hp CATS, talkin cruisin.

Jag-

Most of the custom boat builders do not offer models in the range you describe. They will build one specifically for you if desire, but you would need to contact them directly. The most call they have for the custom boats are in the 45'-60' range. E-mail me and I can give you the names of some local builders in the Manteo/Wanchese area if you like.

Check out Shearline Boatworks. They are in Morehead City, NC and make some really nice Carolina style boats in the mid 30 foot range.
