Hi guys, just found out we have access to a place in Sarasota, and it is on the ocean, we are going to stay there for a week in Aprial, any body have any sugestions there for a good fishing boat we can charter for a day, any advise would be helpful !
I have been on the Cuda out of Marina Jacks a few times and he has always put us on fish. the capt can be a little moody, but we usually limit out on grouper and snapper. If you want to go flats fishing for snook, redfish, etc. , I would recommend Johnny Walker.
I have fished down there a couple of times - Always booked guides through CB's Outfitters - www.cbsoutfitters.com
I have only done in-shore flyfishing from skiffs targetting both Tarpon & Redfish.
CB's should be able to point you in the right direction.
Hope this helps,
Chris
Best of luck. The weather here as been pretty mild (like the rest of the east coast) and the fish have been cooperative. I nailed 7 grouper in 3 hours of trolling last week. (2 keepers) Getting a day with light winds might be the only thing that holds you back. No information on charters in Sarasota, sorry.
Contact Captain Joe Miller out of Venice if you want to go out deep. He typcally runs 65 miles out and the only complaints I hear is that he doesnt want to come back in. My neighbors go out regularly with him. Veyr nice guy that will pull anchor and move more times in a dat then most do in a year to stay on fish. Contact the Venice Fl. Boaters World to get his number. They should have it as he does seminars there. If not, contact me and I will track it down.
PS. Venice is just south pf Sarasota.

And if you journey down to Venice, by all means stop to eat at the Crow's Next restaurant at the base of the south jetty. Great food, service and a wonderful view.
