Anyone have any experience or thoughts about Deep impact boats? Especially the 36' cabin. Don't seem to be many in the marketplace or on the water. Seems to have everything I want in a CC and an overnighter. Have 2 teenage sons that fish w/me. Please let me know. Thanks
very nice boat if you like the lines, I do not... - seeing a few more down here in S fla...suggest you look at Intrepid also in this fish/cruise/hi-line category....
Neighbor has one. I personally do not like the lines, just cant get use to the sheer. Fit and finish are right up there. He is running trip 250 zukes. The ride is not better than the intrepid, my neighbor will agree. Faster yes. N. Miami police are also now running a Deep Impact, grey open, beware.
If you want one of the best rigged boats on the water, Johnny at TNT Custom Rigging in Miami has a beautiful Deep Impact for sale. Just about anyone who knows boat rigging has good things to say about TNT and this is the owners boat.
The one thing that really stood out when I the DI boat last year was just how much roomier my Intrepid 356 is compared to either their 33 or 36. The difference in space was staggering. I still think Intrepid is hands down much better than DI and it's not even close.

WATCH out as I just learned that the company changed hands the first of the year. The company was owned by D.P. Marine Group then sold/transfered to D.I. Marine Group. From what I heard today the sales/marketing team is due money on boats sold last year and the "new" group is unwilling to pay. Thus, they walked! PLEASE NOTE that this information is not 100% confirmed but worth a detailed investigation if you are considering a Deep Impact boat.
I've seen a few around the Keys, and have to say, they LOOK nice. My opinion is that they look like they were designed by a good yacht builder. Beautiful lines.
Deep Impact is no longer factory direct. They have partnered with Plantation Boat Mart in the Florida Keys to be the sole distributor.
Deep Impact is no longer handling sales, sea trials or marketing. I don't think Richie is invloved in this change and he may have left Deep Impact.
You are correct Richie is no longer with Deep Impact, a big loss IMO.
Essentially from what I know Richie helped broker the deal between Plantation and DI. When the negotiations got down to very low margins DI ownership let Richie go to make the deal and basically $crewed him out of his cut. Plantation purchased an entire year of production from DI in the deal. Personally it does not sound like good business practices and I scenery hope they stand by their customers better then their employees
Double Down answered this question in the other deep impact thread. I was told what he said by a member of Plantation's sales team. they will service the boats and provide warranty coverage.

You would be much better off dealing with a more established line of boats that actually cares about other people. Those at Deep Impact appear to be a bit on the shady side.
