Default repower questions, twin 2 strokes to 4 strokes

I have a 94 2555 pursuit w/a with factory armstrong bracket and twin 150 yammies. A friend has a pair of 03 225 4 strokes for sale, 50 hrs., priced right. THe boat is only rated for175's. What do you think?

Don't do it ....

Anything happens Insurance will deny the claim, besides unless you plan to hang them no dealer will risk their necks to do it....

one word...trouble !! if you put that pair of engines on that boat, not only is it over powered, and technically uninsurable,it's also not designed to support that kind of weight on the transom-that bracket doesn't have the physical displacement,to provide enough flotation...
ask yourself this question...is it worth the risk????

Not only is it unwise, possibly dangerous, and of course not legal in some states to overpower a boat, but the 4-stroke Yamahas also need a wider space between them on a dual engine rig due to their size. Most engines are set up on 26" centers, but the F225's need at least 28" between, not to mention the serious increase in weight.

I have a 2550 Pursuit that is max rated at 400 hp. I repowered and hung twin 200's. I was stopped by the CG on a routine check of the boaters in the area. They were concerned that the boat was over powered until they saw the capaciity plate. I am sure if I was overpowered they could have taken some action to get me off the water or maybe they could not but I was glad not to have had to worry about it.
