Have a work trip to Orlando in about 3 weeks. Have a full day set aside before things kickoff to play golf or do whatever else. Are there any boat manf in the area that might be a interesting tour? Any THT'rs that want a fishing buddy for the day. Looks like a long drive to the water. Not a fishy looking city. Doing the Miami show in Feb so is golf my best bet?
Hell...its only 45 min to Port Canaveral with some great fishing charters or THT'rs there. Their has got to be someone in the port who could use a little help this weekend and catch a couple fish. If not...golf is fun...but hanging out at the port if Rusty's is still open is a blast!
I took my family to Disney World this past March. One of the days they went and did the theme parks while I treated myself to guided trip for BASS on Lake Kissimmee. This is where the last Bass Masters tournament was held in Feb 2006. It's a different type of fishing from the salt but I had a hoot. If your in Orlando you will be right there.
I was in Orlando 4 years ago. It really isn't a long drive to the East coast. From what I recall (and as Lostshaker mentioned) it's only about a 45 minute drive. There's a highway referred to as the "Bee Line" that's a straight shot from Orlando to the coast. I'll be heading down there in late February myself. In order to locate a good inshore fishing charter, I started the following thread just a couple of days ago. Maybe this will help you find what your looking for: http://www.thehulltruth.com/forums/t...129611&posts=7

I lived in Orlando for 22 years, and the 2 previous posters are correct. 45 minutes to an hour and you are at the water. If it was me, I would travel to the Mosquito Lagoon area, there are miles and miles of area to wade fish for monster trout and reds in the skinny water this time of year. There is a long "drivable" nature trail inside Canaveral National Seashore, where you can park and wade out to beautiful grass flats. Or better yet travel there and hook up with a charter, the inshore fishing there is truly hard to beat. In fact, most charters offer a "no fish, no pay" deal, meaning if they dont put you on some fish, the trip is free for the day.
PSW I am in Jacksonville about 2 hours from Orlando. if the conditions are right on the weekend I will be making a run to the gulf stream for some wahoo. I f you have interest let me know. Cape Canaveral is closer with a shorter run to the blue water. If you end up going to Epcot center for some reason go on the ride called "Soarin' ". It is a hang glider view of California on a 110 foot screen. "Fish Bones" was supposed to be the best seafood resturant in Orlando a couple of years ago. at least it is generally warm this time of year
Ponce Inlet and Sebastian aren't too far, fish from the jettys or rocks, decent all year round, or just walk around BPS.....Daytona has all the fishing charters you need....head boats etc.....Mick
I'm itching to get out and if the weather permits you are more than welcome (my Pursuit is a bit smaller than yours). I'm in Altamonte Springs which is just northeast of Orlando.
As far as restaurants I would suggest you give Roy's a try. They have some of the most unique seafood you will find anywhere. http://www.roysrestaurant.com/
Both restaurants are just off I-4 and Sand Lake Road which is between Disney and Universal Studios.
If you can send an email and let me know where you are staying and how to contact you we can at least hookup for a brew and/or 18 holes if nothing else.
I live in Orlando; the fishing anywhere will be highly dependent on the cold fronts/high winds that roll through this time of year. It's 5 ft out of Canaveral today so I'd go with an in-shore or bass guide as a safe bet. And if you're staying at a Disney hotel they have great bassin' because their lakes are private, don't get much pressure. The same cool weather makes for grat golfing weather; Orange County National is public and world-class
