Default How do you know which oil is which??

How do you know when you buy bulk oil it is not OMC,MERCURY,YAMAHA,SUZUKI,HONDA ETC.??Most dealers just ask for your container and fill it. Most dealers usually sell 2 or more different motors.Do they keep 55 gal. drums for each manufactor>Most meaning here in S.C.

They do down here in s fla - when I was buying Opti DFI oil I asked to see the 55 gallon drum and it had a big OEM Merc label on it....(and it was the right color)....and obviously, the place I bought it from had a great rep and nice atmospehere ( The Outboard shop in Pompano beach, Fla)

Do you know what brand oil it is Or you trust them that it is oem oil? I get the same break but it was several 100 gallons before I noticed my buddies getting the same oil for their john-rudes as I was for my Yami. You would think that's just fine if they are only ones doing service (DEALER)but what if you move and have problems and it is oil related? Just asking not try-n to flame anybody. Is it just better to buy factory labeled oil by the gallon??
