Does anyone know of something similar to mount over the top of external grill / flush mount / exterior-grade speakers?
(yeah, I know Poly-Planars are supposed to be waterproof)
If I am understanding your question, even if there were something, wouldn't that have a serious negative impact on your speakers ability to project sound?? My poly planer speakers mounted in the front are non-functional after 2 years as well. "Waterproof" my a$$
Get yourself some DC Gold speakers (formerly Babb speakers). They are very water resistant (they claim waterproof). The price is high, but sound quality is great and they have a 3 year no questions asked full replacement warranty. http://www.dcgoldaudio.com/index.html
I've had poly planar stereo and speakers over 3 years now with no probs at all....my speakers are mounted on either side of the helm and the unit is mounted under my steering wheel and I remove it after every use and keep it covered in plastic in my house. Don't know why others are having them "fail" after 2 years but that is not my experience.
