You have EVERY right to be proud of him. I'f it wasn't for young men like him there would be NO freedom, no holidays (except for maybe MECCA), no life, liberty and the persuit of happiness for any of us Americans.
Hey jawz, be prepared to be a real teary-eyed proud Dad when you see your son marching onto that parade field at PI for his graduation. He'll be standing tall and looking incredibly sharp in his Class As sporting his brand new globe&anchor. He'll be a LOT more grown up and feeling very very proud of what he has accomplished! Congratulations and post pics of the event for us, ok?
Jawz,
You should be very proud. That will be an accomplishment he will remember forever. My 19 year old just graduated the Police Academy, so I know the apprehension you also feel. While I have been a cop for 17 years, that is nothing knowing what situations and dangers my son will be facing....Congratulations again you obviously raised him right..

Entering military service is the beginning of a fantastic adventure. Your son is going to have more fun than he ever thought would be possible. He is going to learn more about more things than he would believe if you told him.
What do you mean it has nothing to do with boating. IT HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH BOATING! Without our millitary we would not have the freedom to boat! It does not matter what your pollitics are, I am probably one of the most liberal people on this board, and that is why I feel a strong millitary is extremely important. Without a strong millitary there is no FREEDOM!
G-D bless your boy and keep him safe.

As we say in SC, (where Paris Island Is.), he was obviously "raised right". God bless him and keep him and all other members of our Armed Forces where ever they serve, SAFE.
PS, Its a whole heii of a lot better to be at PI in the winter than other times of the year, As he will hear many times "those sand gnats got to eat too. Peace thru supreior firepower.
Jawz, Congrats to your son. Prayers to him and your family for safety and for the service he is doing for our country. You are a proud papa for sure and you have every right to be. Tell you son thanks for what he is doing for all of us.
Congrats on your boy. I agree you must have done a great job raising him. God bless your entire family. Once he gets assigned to a particular unit let us know. I've been sending some care packages to friends in Iraq and would be honored to add him to the list.
Little advice from someone who spent some time at P.I. - Send him mail every day. Let him know what's going on at home with your family, little stuff means alot. Send him stamped envelopes with your address on them, he won't have alot of time to write, so if you can save him a minute or two, he's more likely to write. Encourage him, and reinforce that he can make it.
Semper Fidelis.
