I have seen the 300 promaxes on your hull so it will handle it but the 250xs will run on regular now so why go through the hassle Plus it's new with very few if any info where as the 250 xs has a strong history of reliablity that is proven

Go with the 300's, they get better fuel economy and are a much stronger motor than the 250.

You will see a SUBSTANTIAL gain in performance with these engines. That 300 hp rating is for insurance companies only. Trust me, it will put out well over that. IMHO the pro XS may just be the best all around engine out there right now.

It is without a doubt the fastest engine out there, and it gets excellent fuel economy, if not the best fuel economy of any 250 or 300 out there.

Just read any outboard shootout out there that has an xs in it. They walk away for performance and fuel economy.

Inspector, just installed a pair of 300's on a 34 Venture. took off 275 Verados, much better economy at cruise and better holeshot probably from the weight difference. but almost the same at top end. as of right now these engines are not DTS avalible. JK

You're saying top end speed is the same, or top end fuel economy is the same? Which is it? If you're saying top end speed is the same, I'm gonna call BS on that one.

DS will most likely not be available. Remember, this is a race inspired engine.

I said almost the same, if 2-2.5 mph at WFO and 2-3-GPH less is a major improvement. then you are correct. JK

If you are a verado owner and not running the SKA that need the extra 5 mph that any of the opti XS's engines offer, take a test drive first...I was on a pair of 200 opti's a few weeks ago and I was surprised....not saying that are outrageously loud, but after V's, i could not go back even if it was 5-7 mph faster....no to mention the hydraulic steering was archaic, IMO....

If the 250 or 300 could make this boat 5-7mph faster than the Verados, maybe I could live with the oil burn and extra noise that come with these engines. the cruise speed and fuel burn at cruise with verados on this Boat would not work with range needed by customer. that was only reason that the change to the XS was done. Remember, this is a race inspired engine.
The 300X is a racing engine.....the new 300XS is simply an Opti on steriods.
