Default sailfish 238 single engine?

Anyone out there got a 238 with a single engine set-up? Or can I get some opinions of putting a single on the 238?

I think I recall a forum member who had a 266 (same boat different label, if I remember correctly) with twin 115's (230 total hp). I don't think he was satisfied, and swapped the engines for more power. I would go with a 300 hpdi if single power was the only option being considered...

Of course, my memory could be wrong. Try using the "find / advanced seach" feature to possibly find the 266 / twin 115 discussion I'm referring to.

< edit > I found the link. Here it is:

Better go with the 300 if you do these boats are big and heavy.

The only difference is the label (which concerns SKA qualifications). The Sailfish 236 is their 23' offering.

I have the second 238 sold. A single 300 would be the only thing I would go with. You might get by with a 250 but it would be working to put it on plane. I have twin 200's and it will plane with one engine and do about 30 but I have to change out the prop and then I have to be going downwind with a light load to plane it off. Once on a plane its fine but hard to get it up to start with. Its a great boat. With the twins I get about 2 miles per gallon crusing and top end is around 50.

I'm not an expert but I bet the 250HPDI would be the sweetheart engine for that boat. I'm sure the F225 would be adiquate but that boat has a lot of deadrise and the 2 stroke power curve would be nice. From what I've read the few extra hp you get with the 300 isn't worth the hit you'll take on fuel consumption, I guess it's pretty thirsty vs the 250.

I have the sailfish 236 center console with an ox 66 225 hp yammie and its plent of power for my rig. The 266 cruises great with twin 150s and is a rocket with the 200s.I saw one with twin f225s and the boat squatted in the slip (over kill)
