Just had my 400 hour check and everything checked out fine…I have had no breakdowns or problems in that time and both engines have been flawless.. Attached to the final bill /repair order was the computer diagnostic on each engine and the run time function from the computer, which is always fascinating to me:
My run time on the stb engine is as follows. The other engine was nearly identical.
Everybody remarks Verados are thirsty above 4500 rpm and I agree. But as you can see, I don’t spend time there.. At the RPM's where I live, (3000-4500), I use 7.0 - 9.5 gph per engine.
When it comes to Verados, me thinks thou doth proclaimith thy wonders just a little too much.
Do you feel better now? Anything else that you need to get off your chest and share with us? How about their beautiful looks or the way they are supported by Mercury Marine? How about the auto sychronization of the throttles or the way they shift so smoothly? The power assisted hydraulic steering is beyond belief isn't it? Or, the way the motors look against a custom paint job. How about the fabulous support that Sundance Marine provides?

I think Glen just said that his engine had there required check-up and all is fine. Then he showed the usage by rpm. He likes his nice, reliable engines.
Is that a problem? Is he not allowed to be happy with his motors and his experience?

You forgot the "system", and how with the magical power steering, your shoulders won't ache after a long run. I wonder if he still has to "pound on the motor covers" to get them to fit? Or, do the turbo chargers still fill up with oil if motor tilted up?
You might also mention how it's no longer necessary to go thru that grueling chore of trying to sycronize the 2 motors.
Don't you see the pattern here...some folks just don't like to hear good news....it bothers them...it always amazes me when I post that in 3 years
I have had no significant problems with my yamaha/or my angler....no stress cracks...no blisters/no electrical failures..etc....the same people chime in saying this can't be true....you see glenn you can't win.......some people just want to see a train wreck and if they don't they will twist it into one........p.s. excellent news on the Verado performance data.....very interesting as well.

You guys are a lot more patinet than I am with this dlck hed. I gotta come out and just say it - arswhipe.
As I see it, you are the one protesting here a bit too much. I'm guessing you have outboard envy?
And btw, I own Yamahas as well, but I found the post interesting.
Glen, what is your MPG at different rpm's if you don't mind.......

Thx all for your kind words...my anti-fan club just keeps me going...they just forgot so many other products I like, I hate to see verado just get the limelight...(LOL)
Able - your request with a pair of 17 rev 4's (my current fav prop)
I don't get it,Glen always provides very helpful info, and helps many with questions or problems they may have, and he gets his nuts busted. WHY? Too many dumb people out there.
Thanks Glen for the info. Good to hear the motors are running smooth. Wondering if you might give me a little help with a prop question. We are currently running Yamaha SWS 19's on our Pursuit 3070 with Yamaha F250's and have been very happy with the performance. Medium load to normal load we see 49 mph avg both directions and 5900 rpm. Right about where you would want to be in the rpm range (5-6k). We are looking at doing a very long fishing trip that is over a thousand miles each way with plenty of fuel stops along the way but the boat will be loaded with fishing gear and such. Mostly likely no heavier than most of our previous 6 day trips. RPM with the extra weight I would only guess would drop to 5700 so the engines would not be lugging but we are wanting to have a lower gear so the engines can run slower at their 4000 to 4400 rpm range they like. That might be nice when the weather is not being kind and we want some extra traction in the ocean. Any recommendations on what prop might work well in that situation. I have heard a lot of good things about Merc props. First thought would be a 17 pitch SWS but thought you may have a better idea.
