Default Spray coming up from the cavitation plate?

OK, whether or not you call it the cavitation plate or anti-cavitation plate, is it normal for there to be some spray coming from that while on plane? I have a boat with an armstrong bracket and I usually have spray coming up unless I have the trim tabs extended a lot.

thanks

some spray is normal

it should not back into the boat, though. Do you get wet from it when you sit in back?

The plate should be about even with the bottom of the hull when the motor is down

Those extended wing things that some people put on to the plates to make them plane quicker will cause some extra spray

LI is right ... spray is normal. One side of my motor will spray a little more than the other but I write it off to torque. I do not get spray inside the boat at all.

Sorry if I wasnt clear...

There is no water coming into the boat. But when on plane, some water will come up from where the anti-cavitation plate is in the water. It's not plowing through the water causing gallons of spray to come up, but it is skimming the surface.

Should the plate be completely out of the water, or is it normal for it to skim accross the top? The engine is on a bracket, so having it even with the bottom doesnt work here.

thanks!

Skimming across the top of water sounds good to me...

If you are getting spray that disapears when you've trimed the motor out pretty far, then you can probably raise the motor one or two holes. If you are close to ventalating on turns at high speed then you do not want to raise the motor. Most of the time a standard rigged boat is not tuned to the max. Raising the motor a hole would be my guess.

Default Spray coming up from the cavitation plate?

When I bought my current boat (20 foot CC) the owner had the motor mounted too low. The result was quite a bit of spray coming off the lower unit..more than I'd ever seen before. Once the motor was at the right height the spray went away. Your anti-ventilation plate (sorry) sounds about right, just make sure it isn't 'down under' & kicking up a fuss.
