Default No Wake Zone anchor?

I am putting a no wake zone sign in the water around my dock and I need something to anchor it down. Any suggestions?

Is it an official no wake zone or are you just declaring your own?

I am not declaring my own. My house is about 200 yards outside the channel and people ride at full speed within a few feet of the dock.

Use mushroom if there's little current and a muddy bottom. If you're sure this is legal in your area, place it within the 'natural' no-wake area 150' from shore.

If you have any doubts then put it on yuor dock and hope for the best.

Good luck!

Use boat or trailer and then you will have an artificial reef!

Well, that's rude, for sure, but there's nothing that says you can't run at planing speed outside a channel, unless it's designated a no-wake zone by somebody "official".

Yep, a mushroom anchor is probably best.

A couple dozen crab pot markers would do as well as a sign.

Can you imagine that? People on the water, in boats, making waves.

Oh, the humanity!

This sign will not last long and the first person that hits it and damages their rig will be coming to you for justice. If this is an official no wake zone then call the proper agency and have them put one up. If not then you are asking for problems. I hate to say it, but you purchasing real estate on water does not give you the right to control the traffic and enforce the rules. We have the same problem at our dock, but there is not a lot you can do if it is not a no wake zone.

carolina rig, which carolina? you decided to build a house where people boat, deal with it. if there was a no wake zone for every private dock it would take me two hours to get on the outside and there wouldn't be anywhere people could water ski or enjoy other water sports. get a boat lift or whips and deal with it. nothing pisses me off more than people putting more crap that goes bump in the night in the water.

Hey Widman,

What took ya so long?

Yer a piece of work, dewd. We must have a beer some day. Or we could take a drive in my boat, drinking some booze, and blowing through no wake zones. I think you'll like it.

It's guaranteed to loosen yer tight ass up.

big al, you obviously havent been doing this as long as i. the trick is to drive through not on plane but with the bow trimmed up as high as possible. try it next time. works great. and if the waterway is as wide as you say I doubt people are driving within 50ft of your dock and if they are a sign isn't gonna stop them. oh and your non official sign is a hazard to navigation. my neck hurts from hitting it. I'm calling an attorney and then Paul Mann.

We call that "liquor cruising" def. running exactly 2 RPM below plane. Best accomplished when practiced with a "bubble boat" (Bayliner/SeaRay/Rinker) especially if it has one of those 12' high Dodge Daytona air spoilers on it.
