Default Re: Freeland Boats?

Did some googling. Can anyone vouch for this? I found it on Florida sportsman.

Has anyone ever heard of this make of boat? It supposed to be an SKA type hull that was custom made on the west coast of fl somewhere. I can't find any info on them. If anyone has knowledge, please let me know.

Reply:Built buy the owners of freeland nissan in ft.myers and pt. charlotte. I knew of two hulls available in cape coral a while ago. they are few and far between as the family built them mostly for personal use, according to the info I got.

Default Freeland 20 in my barn

Sir,
I bought a Freeland 20 in '08 and have had the opportunity this summer to enjoy it, THOROUGHLY. I am quite impressed by it's performance as a lake boat and look forward to getting to the coast. It was made in Cape Coral FL in 1989 and sold new to a local FL man. He sold it to a friend of mine, thru Ebay, an I traded a few things for it. Powered by a '89 merc 135, she handles like an oversized jetski. Pulled her out last Friday as the temps here in the White mountains of NH are dipping below freezing. I admit to not owning a boat of this design before so I am easily impressed by performance. I have been piloting a Stingray 22 for a few years as a family ski boat but find that best suited for the lake. If I figure out how, I will add a picture to this post.
See pix in the album area.

no offense to anyone that has one, but I almost boguht one 6-7 years ago. Seemed like a lot of boat for the money. Drove all the way down to Ft myers and the boat turned out to be a POS. Started talking to some guys around the boat dock and they said the boat had numerous transom problems. They are out of business and were a small builder. I woudl pass and get something that is more well known and is proven in an offshore envoirnment

My friends boat was completly redone. New transom with bracket with a 250 efi now a 300 hpdi. The boat is good for what it was designed to do. He runs the flats with any bay boat and runs 30 miles offshore. It is not the smoothest riding boat I have been on offshore but they can not go where he goes in the shallow stuff thou. I do not know how the boat ran prior to rebuild. He bought it around 1998 and rebuilt it. If you are looking for a offshore boat, I would agree with jeffro. If you are looking at a do everything boat I would take a look but you may have to rebuild transom. Too your question about vouching for the statement above Yes, they were built here in Fort Myers, Florida. We use to have alot of boat manufactures here in Lee County. Now they are in the Carolinas or no longer around.
