Default Contender 23T seating

Looks like I am going to be an owner of a 23T shortly... I will need to create some extra seating as this only has the leaning post/helm seat - Would any other tournament owners be able to tell me what is recommended in terms of adding a rear bench seat on the transom and where I might find a cooler seat for the front... how to secure to the deck so it remains moveable?
Any/all comments welcome. The boat is an 05' with new suzuki 175 4 stroke motors... looks sweet, can't wait to go trial and get her on the way to the West Coast.
Thanks!
Michael

First off, congrats on your new boat. I picked my new 23T up around the first of Nov and now have 45 hours on it. I moved up from a 23 Open. We're really enjoying the 23T. Our boat has a split console door and a Frigid Rigid cooler in front of the console. I use the turnbuckle style hold-down system that you can buy from Boaters World. It's easy enough to move the cooler, but holds it in place well. Not sure about the rear bench. My 23 Open had one and I hardly ever put it in the boat so I did order the new boat with one.
You'll be happy with the 23T it's an awesome little boat.

It was on the boat when I bought it . But it would be a very easy install. Birdsall will make it to your specs. If you want them too. I think they are very reasonably priced for what you get....Mark

Other than folding it, how easy is it to remove?

The factory offers a rear folding / removable bench seat (similar to pics above), so you might could get assistance from a Contender dealer.

Bean bags are another option to consider.

Please post some performance #'s with the 175's after you've had a chance to run the boat.

The backrest is friction fit and just slides in and out of the receivers.
The seat removes by taking out two stainless ball pins and that is it. It takes about one minute to remove the backrest and seat.....

Those are awesome boats. I'd go with the beanbags though.

I agree with the above. Go with the bean bags, their easier to stow away than the transom seat. It is a nice added extra for those lazy days, but when I am fishing I like my floor space free of clutter. Hey its a contender, standing room only. Good luck with the new boat. Please post when you get her wet for the first time and see what all the hype is about.

I'll cats another vote for beanbags. They are more comfy than a standard seat. They are very easy to store also. They can fit into many storage compartments or just toss them on top of the t-top while fishing.

Beanbags?? I thought, you gotta be kidding me, but I love beanbag chairs... like with stryafoam beans? Store them inside the console? Who makes a weather proof beanbag?

Check this link:

A forum search should reveal previous discussion about bean bags and E-Searider.

can't go wrong with either birdsall seat or bean bags,or both, different seating needs. while fishing, the guys like the bean bags for the longer runs, and store easily and quikly....but on those day trips out to the beach, the wife likes the birdsall seat 'cause she can hog it to herself and spread her fine legs out on it for all boaters to see(typical female starving for more attention those hookas..) get both!!! Happy Thanksgiving to all !!!!

Another vote for the e-searider bean bags. Those bench seats can be pretty pricey. My boat came w/ one and I rarely use it. In fact, I just bought 2 medium long-neck bags. On the Contenders that I have seen, the seat will not fold flat to drop out of the way.

If the bean bag idea does not appeal to you, a trial period using a larger cooler may help influence your decision one way or another.
