Default Bertram 31 in Classic Yacht online magazine

Bertram fans:

A buddy of mine says a 31 he knows is going to be featured in Classic Yacht online magazine. The story's not up yet, but there's a pic of what might be the final product at www.classicyachtmag.com

There are two 31s shown at Classic Yacht. Are you talking about the one with the tower?

Yeah, the one with the tower. There's another one on the living legends section on plane.

Wiley: I agree. Please bring on more senseless Merc, Yamaha, etc bashing and whining. Oh wait, I also miss those lucid "has gas changed your boating threads."

Whatever.... just think someone at bertram caught wind of THT and rather than ask how they can be included in the site just sent some posters over to "spread their word".

Then again.... I spent 2 hours this morning cleaning up spam posts. If you guys want this forum to be full of spam rather than information then I'll gladly go sit on the beach every day and let them take over.

Until you're on this side of the chair perhaps realize I know what is best.

Wow. Just an attempt to lighten up. Not a slam.

Cheers.

Well, I'm not from Bertram, but why would they want to puff up a really old boat that they don't build anymore?

seems to me that he was saying why bother with a boat they dont build anymore, kind of taking a jab at the bertram article, not really promoting it?

Here's what I know:

1. I like old Bertrams. I'd no sooner recommend anyone buy a new Bertram (I think they're ugly) than any other boat. Not to get into it but Viking probably builds a better boat these days. Isn't Bertram owned by an Italian conlgomerate now? Explains the styling.

2. I haven't spent a penny to support either thehulltruth.com or classicyachtmag.com, since both appear to be free.

3. I haven't gotten any harassing emails from that other site.

Wiley I think you are way toooooo paranoid. When I was much younger they said too many joints caused that problem. We were always looking over our shoulder for the fuzz; seems like it causes you to see Bertrams everywhere.

I think its probably very difficult to spot a true spammer ,although even I have spotted a couple of obvious ones over the last few months..but certain posters on this forum are just plain out of line.....you know who you are dead........fillin th blanks.....because I had the nerve to post facts about the construction of my boat to refute blanket statements like "cheap construction" etc I was called a factory rep/spammer/dealer..you name it....as wiley knows we don't want the Mccarthy hearings on this website......but we also don't want sneaks trying to sell their products for free advertising either. its a fine line wiley ....I don't envy you trying to sort this all out....wish I had a solution that wouldn't tarnish legit posters with legit questions just because it sounds fishy...or is a first post....
or someone actually loves their boat and posts all kinds of glowing reviews about it......its very hard.............good luck wiley.

Well, the issue with the Bertram 31 article is out. The boat is/was a hardtop express, pretty rare. Subscriptions are free. www.classicyachtmag.com

They are stopping by a very high traffic / well known boating forum
with the intention of trying to direct some of the internet traffic to aa differant website.

notice the original poster , on his very first post directs people to go and see a picture on another site.

Question
If the boat belongs to a fiend of his? why not snap some pics and post them here on THT to start a good discussion on Bertram 31's?

Answer
The other site would take years to gain any traffic, and then it could be a very low level. So they try to cannibal some traffic.

It's a weasel manuver and Wiley has good reason to be preturbed

Perhaps you are correct in your logic, then again, perhaps not! I enjoy this forum to learn and obtain information from all different directions and sources.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I think twice before posting a link to any other site that overlaps with THT to a significant extent.

That's a judgement call for each of us to make, but I've always felt this was Wiley's sandbox, ansd I don't get to complain about whatever he decides to allow or kill (even though he's spiked a few of mine, too).

You can always invite people to send you a PM if they want the site address.
