Default black mildew stains in vinyl

What is the best product for removing black mildew stains in vinyl. I just purchased a larger used boat this spring and the vinyl on the capt's bench has these stains in it. I plan on having the vinyl redone next winter if I cannot get them out. Is there anything you can recommend???

Thanks!

no joke ! most wifes and mom are the ones, who clean house. and they know what they use, to remove mildew stains from, shower curtains , shower walls, etc. just read and make sure it doesn't say you can't use on vinyl. besides if its mess up it can't be no worse. good luck, ed

Dang, son, I'd expect someone from Wildwood to come up with an answer like that! (I'm originally from Pedro ).

I'd try some Greased Lightning, and then I'd try some Zap, they both remove mildew, the Zaps has acid in it, so you need to rinse well.

Toilet bowl cleaner also does a fair job on mildew (acid), and it gels up nice so you can get your tooth brush in there.

You can also scour with Clorox grains (bleach) or Bar Keeper's Friend (acid).

If everything fails, you can try some Mary Kate and Ashley's On/Off which is just freaking unadulterated acid. It is a hull cleaner, so it may be a little rough for the vinyl. Have a waterhose standing by...

Good luck..

Mark

It's not good for vinyl but I use a 30% bleach/water solution. I leave it on until the mildew is gone then scrub it off with soap/water. To keep my cushions mildew free I remove them and keep them in my garage. One more trick - I put candle wax on the cushion snaps to make them easier to remove.

If the vinyl is white try bleach with warm water and add a lttle lemon, if the seats can be exposed to sun. This combination should work

soft scrub with bleach works well. also check out your local walmart or target for outdoor patio furniture cleaner, there are several spray on products that will make it like new.

Spray 9. Just don't let it soak on the stitching too long.
