thinking of repowering my 02 sailfish 266 with the yammi f150s . currently have the 150 hdpis and have been happy with the performance and speed. not sure if I need to go to the f200s . thanx for your help in advance
f150 will be almost exactly the same speed as your hpdis. They have plenty of go and are actually lighter because they are a 4 cylinder. If the 150s are enough for you then go with them. We have a 266 with F225s which will really move but the cost for 2 225s over 2 150s is like 12000. I wouldn't put F200s on there because they are heavy for the HP and don't give you much more the the 150s will speed wise.
I am looking at the new SF boats right now. My salesman told me the 200's are not worth it. He said the 150's actually put out 160 hp so you're only gaining 40 HP, but you're going to a 6 cylinder so the extra weight is a factor.
Sounds reasonable to me, and we all know that salesmen always tell the truth lol.
He said if you upgrade better off going to the 250's.

My (trusted) Mechanic has always said that the F150 developed about 165 HP.

I have fuel problems with the hdpis . the high speed fuel pumps are shot so I can spend 6k to fix them or go to the new motors and pump out my tank ,have it cleaned ,go with new fuel lines from the tank back and get the f150s with a 6 year warranty . I guess I feel like starting over with the amount of time I missed this year
had the hdpis -if Imgoing to do it I would rather have the 4 strokes for resale down the road with the 6 year warranty,no more oil to mess with etc. got screwed with the etanol - I guess its my turn
The hpdi's have alot more seat of the pants punch but don't rev as high so the wfo is the same they also will do better in in bigger seas with alot of tab and neg trim situations Get someone else to give you an estimate The plumber I work with just went through this with a single 200 somewhere around 1900 for everything This included both pumps as the first fix was ruined because it got though the cheap filter they tried to use the first time
How about ditching the Yammi's altogether and put on a pait of Etec 200 small blocks? Then you'll have some nice performance and a unique rig since virtually all Sailfish are stuck with Yammi.
Im going to pump and clean the tank as well ! I like the yammis as the dealers are close by. and thell bolt right up. I know this dumb reasoning but I dont want any omc (bombadie ) products ever again. no suzy dealers around
