Default Off the water for months at a time

Now I know how ya'll guys feel after a long winter up north being off the water for months at a time. That sucks. As some of ya'll know,I had neck surgery back in June.Got the go ahead to go back to work next week and the ok to get back to a normal life somewhat.Man have I be waiting for that! Now I will be looking for a new boat which I been doing research on.Have be watching around for a World Cat 26'WA.Was in the market for a Glacier Bay,but I like the little speed that the WC offers over a GB with 100 mile runs one way.
So,what do ya'll guys do all winter when ya'll can't use you boats?Oh,the trout fishing has been hot all summer and is still hot.Hope to get down there this week.Best its been in years. That is what my brother has been telling me.That sucks,my luck!I have been putting the battery chargers on the boats to keep them up.I will have to get down and change out the oil in my big boat. That has been dry dock for a long time, also change out the raw water impellers too.I did run the engines on water hoses a few times, got my son to do that. Now only if I can get him to paint the bottom to put it back in the water.Thank god I had striped the bottom before the surgery. Can any of ya'll guys up north think of any other thing that ya'll do after a boat has been sitting out of service?I don't have any fuel in the tanks.Fuel filters are new and engines were tune up before lay up.

Up here in the North, we spend most of the time dreaming we lived in the South where we could use our boats year round.

But since circumstances dictate otherwise for some of us Northerners (like me), here's what I do. Prior to putting the boat away in it's underground winter storage location, I do all of the engine maintenance and empty everything out of the boat. I store the contents of the boat in my home over the winter. Before I get the boat out in the spring, I make sure that every boat related item I store here at home over the winter is ready to go when it comes time to get the boat out in the Spring. I clean and treat all of the upholstry, the bimini and storm enclosure, go over all of my safety and fishing gear and respool reels. Also during the course of the winter, I charge my batteries once a month. When I do get the boat out in the spring, all of that stuff is ready to go. All I have to do is clean the boat real good and wax it.
