Default Suzuki DF225 Prop

Since there are a lot more Suzuki owners on this site than the bass or walleye sites, I thought I would try for some help here.

I have a Lund 1900 Pro V tournament walleye boat with a Suzuki DF225 but I am still working on the right prop. With a 16" x 20 Suzuki I can turn 6000 rpm and run about 48.5 mph. The motor is mounted one hole down from the highest position. This is also at 5500 feet altitude. My previous boat was the exact same hull except had a 200 hp DI Evinrude. I realize the gear ratios are different so the pitches won't be the same but that boat would run 50.5 mph at 5600 rpm with a 14" x 19 OMC Viper. Bottom line is I am running 2 mph slower with 25 more hp on the back.

Most of the posts I have read on THT have offshore or bay boats with the Suzukis and are not as concerned about top end. I would like to add 3-4 mph to the top end but I'm not sure that is possible with the big Suzuki props.

Does anyone have any experience with other props like the Mercury Tempest Plus although they are smaller diameter? I'm thinking that a prop along that design may be my only option besides getting one that is custom tuned. Any other ideas?

Several friends of mine have done some testing with the large gear case Suzy's and have come to a conclusion that the Solas/Suzy props are the best because of their large gear cases. Check your pm, sent you a link so you can take a look.

I have ran a few suzuki 225 an 250's on mercury props. Tempest, Rev 4, enertia, Mirage. They have all worked well on different boats.
You sound like you are propped pretty well if your right at 6000 WOT.

I don't personally think you need 16 inches of diameter to push that boat. You may be able to swing a prop with a higher pitch and a little smaller diameter, if you went mercury. Maybe move up to a 21 or 22 pitch and get that couple of mph you want.
