Default Cracks in Armstrong Bracket

I have a 2003 Bluewater 2350 with single 250 Yamaha and 9.9 4-stroke kicker (100#). The boat has a single engine Armstrong bracket with an integral (welded on) kicker bracket. For the 2nd time, I have a crack in the bracket near the kicker motor, in a different place than the first crack. Repair of the first crack was assisted by Armstrong. I noticed that the side of the Armstrong bracket where the kicker bracket is installed is not reinforced any differently than the opposite side, in spite of the fact that the side with the kicker bracket could be expected to take more severe loads due to weight of the kicker in heavy seas.

I wonder if anyone else has had similar issues with their Armstrong bracket?

Thanks.

Bill

Default RE: Cracks in Armstrong Bracket

I've seen this before with twins on a stainless marine outboard bracket. Cracks on the welds are not uncommon.
