Default Yamaha trim bad news/good news

The trim motor recently burned up on my 200HPDI which just happened to be one month after the factory warranty expired. I called my dealer and told him the trim motor was smoking and burned up. The service manager told me they don't see very many burned up trim motors. I also told him I was one month out of warranty. He said to sit tight and he'd call me back. The next day he told me Yamaha had agreed to supply the part for free ($601 retail) if I'd pay for the labor. Just got the boat back from the shop and paid what I thought was a reasonable $128.00 (the shop had to paint the motor and install it). It looks like one of the wires coming out of the motor somehow had gotten corroded or pinched inside of the plastic sheath. I'm pretty darn happy the way it turned out.

I highly recommend this southeast Louisiana dealer who has been first class since I started doing business with them. Email if you'd like their name.
