Default What do you expect of your dealer?

Hey Guys,

I was thinking about all the negative posts I see about your dealers. Got me to thinking about what we expect of them?

So I therefore pose the question, what do you expect of your dealer? After and during a sale of a new boat or motor, what do you expect them to do to service you? What could they do which would be above your expectations (Keep it G rated!) What sets some dealers apart from all the others. I'm after specifics here guys, not just general remarks.

Maybe we could list a top 5 things our dealers have done/could do which has earnt our business for the future?

For me.

1. A boat orientation, not just a here's your boat, goodbye!

2. Calling me periodically afterwards to be sure i'm happy with my boat and the service I have received.

3. Listen to any problems I have, not just stare blankly and agree only to do nothing about it.

4. Actually return my calls or call back when they said they would!

5. Actually come through with promises they made during the sale.

Looking forward to some replies.

Regards

Darren

Default RE: What do you expect of your dealer?

Here's the keys, bon' voyage! seems to be the pattern seen most.

I experienced good service on a Zuke re-power when the head tech traveled 40 minutes to my dock with a box of props and spent two hours making sure the boat was wheeled right and that Grandpa new all the ins and outs of the engine. A tach failure two weeks later saw a new tach installed no questions asked and we never even knew he was on the boat. (wet slipped). That's pretty good service I think.

For the most part, agreed.........
1. Don't promise things that you CAN"T deliver... If you don't have a rigger capable of installing electronics, don't promise that you are going to install, and then do it half azzed......
2. Don't promise things that you have no intention of delivering.... This is the biggest bunch of BS being thrown around these days, promise the moon and when the ink is dry tell them the moon ain't coming up today.......
3. Remember what you promised........ Dammit, WRITE IT DOWN !!!!!!!!
4. Customer follow up, surprise a customer by calling to see how things are going with the new ride. In other words start selling the next boat before he even gets this one broken in......
5. And last, but not least, when the rig comes in for service treat him/her like you really care about whatever needs attention, NOT like, screw you, I have my money and could give a crap less about you now........

CUSTOMER SERVICE is not exactly a lost art but it seems to be becoming extinct.......
