Default red led cockpit lights? led spreader lights?

I am going to get some cockpit/courtesy lights. I was thinking red would be good to preserve night vision. Does anyone know of any red LED flush-mount cockpit lights?

What about LED spreader lights (white)?

thanks!

I used the red strand lights under the gunwhales of my ActionCraft for night snooking. One strand cut in half did both sides. Gives the boat a cool glow and really does the trick. You can tuck them way up and out of the way, if you've got enough overhang.

I used the Hella oval led's in red in my cabin. They are very bright, so you don't need many. Very nicely made with rubber gasket for mounting surface. The white led's are not nearly as bright as the red ones for some reason.

Thanks for the replies! Seems like hella has something that could work: http://www.hellamarine.com/frame_sst...ne=LED%20Lamps

Ill have to find out if most of the light is directed straight ahead or what, since they will be mounted in the gunnels and not pointing down at the floor.

PeteH,
Unfortunately my boat uses 2 piece construction, so there is no recessed area unde the cap. Otherwise that would have been a perfect solution.

Just make sure the red light is not visible to other boaters otherwise it might be confused with port running lights - and violate the Coast Guard regs.

I'm putting the red leds on my boat. What I did was buy one and I made a test wire with battery ends and alligator clips. I went down to the boat at night with a friend and hooked up the light and moved it around to find proper placement. This was extremely helpful.
