Default Newbie looking for advice

I am new to salt water boating and this forum. My goal is to get a boat that can do some bay fishing and light offshore as well as waterskiing and tubing. I feel like I found a good candadite and was hoping for some feedback. What I have a deposit on is a 2001 Wellcraft Sportsman 210. It is in great shape and has a 2001, 200 HP Johnson. Any issues with this model motor?

BTW - love the forums on this site.

pretty good starter boat for what you describe (but you might find you need more room, with tubes and skis and other crappola). good high sides, good traditional hull shape. you'll learn more about what you exactally need and want from this model. the motor is carbed, and is a rock solid performer. some issues out there, but just like any other make/model. fuel economy wont be as high as motors of today, but neither will your price.

have an unbiased mechanic do a fulll check on the motor/boat. its worth every cent of the hundred bucks or whatever he charges.

cheers.

Thanks guys. I also have my eye on a 1994 Grady-White 223G. It is much better for fishing but not as good for the recreation. The wife wants the cushy seats and I want a motor that does not have the 1500 hours like on the Grady. Time to just pick one and enjoy before the stripers are gone.
